I'm a member of the Florida Trail bannedociation and we have chapters all over. I've seen pictures of hikers wading through waist deep water down there. I'd always wanted to go down and look at a little of the Seminole Indian history and reservation but just a few of the reasons not to that come to mind:
-Alligators -Crocodiles (Nile and Freshies) -Pythons -Panthers -Zika -Poisonwood -Moccasins
I'm sure there's plenty more reasons but I think the pythons and the gators are enough to keep me away from anything deeper than ankle deep water.
